NORTH RONALDSAY - 9th May

S / SE winds again through the day, quite light in the morning but gradually picking up through the day to become rough by mid-afternoon with heavy rain moving in; opened the nets at Holland first thing where it was fairly productive as birds around the garden included a flock of 6 Tree Sparrows, my first Sedge Warbler of the year giving brief snatches of song in the bottom flax clumps, 5 Woodpigeons, 5 Collared Doves, 11 Siskins (one new bird caught), a Dunnock, 3 Blackcaps and a Willow Warbler.

There were predictably fewer migrants around the Hooking census route but they did include my first House Martin of the year over The Links, 10 Sand Martins, 2 Chiffchaffs, a Blackcap, a Pink-footed Goose with the Greylags and 120 Sanderling on The Links.

This Bonxie had been in the wars!
