NORTH RONALDSAY - 19th May

Still nice and sunny but the southerly wind picked up through the day becoming pretty strong by the afternoon; opened the nets first thing with the definite highlight being an awesome female Nightjar flushed from the Flax corner straight into a net, other birds included 2 Chiffchaffs and a Sedge Warbler while a female Black Redstart was in the Kirkyard.   The rest of the Obs census route was fairly quiet with single Goldfinch and Siskin round the Obs and the pair of Garganey, 30 Bar-tailed Godwits and 2 Black-tailed Godwits on Gretchen.

Too many pictures of the Nightjar
