Promising conditions again
with a light SE wind (although it became SW by the afternoon) with a bit of
rain coming through in the afternoon; it was mainly re-traps at Holland first
thing although single Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler and Collared Dove were all
new. The Brides census route was quiet
with no passerines of note but the Kumlien’s Gull and Black-throated Diver were still in Nouster and
ducks on Brides Loch included 5 Wigeon, a female Pintail, 6 Shoveler and 8
Gadwall.
The highlight again came late as a trip up to the top
end of the island produced good views of a single first summer Crane wandering around the fields behind Vincoin – a North
Ron tick! Opened the nets in the
evening and immediately caught 10 Siskins but that was about it with no other
migrants trapped.
