Still glorious, dead calm,
sunny and really warm; had a change of routine and spent a couple of hours from
first light overlooking Slevdalsvann where there were 3 Hen Harriers, 3 Marsh
Harriers, a Buzzard, 2 flyover Bar-tailed Godwits, plenty of squealing Water
Rails and single Little Grebe and Shoveler with 120+ Teal. I then nipped over to have a look at
Kviljobukta where (after a few half-hearted attempts) I finally caught up with 5 Pochards – an overdue Norwegian tick!
The coast was then quiet with 3 Pintail in amongst
110+ Mallards and a Grey Plover the highlights; the rest of the day was just
like a mid-summers day – no wind and no cloud with the whole place just feeling
calm, still and quiet but unfortunately no birds! There were still single Black-tailed Godwit,
Knot and Spotted Redshank with c30 Ruff in the flooded field at LangÄker in the
evening.
Hen Harrier at Sledalsvann
Lots of Ruff pictures but they were right there just in front of me, I couldn't not take lots of pictures!
