14th September

Another dark and dismal day with thick, low cloud cover but largely dry with only a few showers until heavy rain moved in late afternoon and a blazing strong easterly wind; there were a few bits on the sea including 44 Red-throated Divers, 2 Bonxies, 5 Velvet Scoter, 4 Brent Geese, 8 Arctic Terns, 3 Common Terns and a few waders with Knot, Golden Plover and Dunlin flocks heading south.

There was also more around the coast especially in Sevika where there was 5 Grey Plover, 4 Pintail, a Shoveler, 137+ Teal and 35 more Knot through to the south with a Bonxie sat out on Steinodden along with a build-up of 350+ Herring and Great Black-backed Gulls.   Two Peregrines, a Merlin, 2 Kestrels and 6 Sparrowhawks were also out and about.

On the sheltered sides of the plantations birds included 5 Redstarts, 3 Spotted Flycatchers, a Pied Flycatcher, an increase to 46+ Wheatears, a Hen Harrier and a Grey Wagtail while probably the same Red-throated Pipit was again in the stubble field at Vågsvollmarka.   Six Dark-bellied Brent Geese pitched up on Vågsvollvåien just before the heavy rain kicked in while there was a Rook and 2 Carrion Crows with large numbers of Hooded Crows in Vågsvollvika.
