Wall to wall sunshine but
a cold and very strong NW wind took away any feeling of warmth; it was too
windy for any nets and the sea was pretty empty with the morning’s highlight
being the juvenile White-tailed Eagle
which was slowly sauntering around Gunnarsmyra and Vågsvollvåien terrorising
everything in sight. There were still
plenty of birds on the flooded fields including 46+ Ruff, a Spotted Redshank, 2
Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Wood Sandpipers, 45+ Wigeon, 60+ Teal and 80+ Mallard
while little parties of Dunlin, Ringed Plover, Turnstone and Snipe whizzed
around.
The rest of the day was unremarkable with the wind
severely limiting any enjoyment of being out and about; single Spotted
Flycatcher and Red-backed Shrike were the only birds inland and a juvenile
Marsh Harrier was the only Circus out
over the fields.
