Wet and windy to start so
birds on the sea included 62 Red-throated Divers, 12 Knot, a Common Tern and
more Gulls trickling south. It
brightened up considerably by mid-morning but it was pretty quiet (the almost
continuous, extremely heavy rain more or less all night prevented any arrivals
I guess) as three Pintail were the only birds of note round the coast and
inland wasn’t much better with single Redstart and Whinchat, 30+ Wheatears, a
Grey Wagtail, 6 Tree Pipits and 270+ Meadow Pipits the highlights.
The usual spread of raptors were around with a Hen
Harrier, 4 Sparrowhawks, 7+ Kestrels, 2 Merlins and a Peregrine keeping me
entertained.

This young Roe Deer didn't hear me coming.....
This colour ringed Great Black-backed Gull was along the coast yesterday and was ringed on one of the London landfill sites (Rainham or Pitsea) last November
