Far too windy for any ringing but a few looks out over the bay first thing produced 4 White-tailed Eagles – which finally managed to catch something (a Greylag Goose), a Merlin and 4 Sparrowhawks which went south across the mouth of the bay and a big roosting flock of 34 Herons on one of the islands.
I then cycled out to the point but the strong wind coming straight in made it impossible to find any shelter for a proper seawatch so I had to make do with flushing a Short-eared Owl off the point (another overdue Swedish tick!) with 4 Razorbills (also a Swedish tick!) and regular flocks of Eiders heading south at sea.
It was now my least favourite kind of weather – sunny and very windy so I contented myself in the afternoon looking out over the bay from the Obs where birds included a smart 1cy male Merlin close by the house, a young male Peregrine and 6 Greenshank in amongst the usual waders and wildfowl.
