A bit windy through the morning with fewer birds around the site but there was still a succession of Goldcrests, Robins, Chiffchaffs and Reed Buntings to be caught with the only variety being a Great-spotted Woodpecker (a beast of a bird with a wing of 147) and a Norwegian ringed Chiffchaff.
Other birds seen through the morning included a male Merlin (an overdue Swedish tick!), 2 Sparrowhawks, a big, young female Peregrine, and the Kingfisher still on the stream.
The afternoon was wet and windy so I didn’t really do much else but a good long time spent looking over the bay from the Obs in between net rounds in the morning and longer watches in the afternoon produced a decent array of species including the Red-necked Phalarope again seen feeding distantly at the mouth of the bay with the Dunlin, 2 Little Gulls, a Curlew Sandpiper also with the Dunlin, 3 White-tailed Eagles, 16 Shelduck, 34 Gadwall, 374 Wigeon, 23 Goosander, 35 Grey Plover, 40 Golden Plover, 180 Dunlin, a Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshank and a distant Gannet added to the house list.
