Super windy again in the morning so I only managed to open a couple of nets which were predictably slow but this did give me plenty of time to watch over the estuary below the Obs where the highlight was a first winter Red-necked Phalarope which flew in, landed briefly several times before disappearing for good.
Other birds seen through the morning included 11 Shelduck, 349 Teal, at least 1,700 Cranes which left at dawn, 18 Golden Plover, 15 Grey Plover, 31 Ruff, a Little Stint, 2 Spotted Redshank, a Greenshank, at least 4 White-tailed Eagles and a young male Peregrine.
The wind died away to almost nothing by late morning but this change was accompanied by heavy, persistent rain which lingered until late afternoon; when it finally stopped there were obviously more birds around with Blackcaps, Robins and Chiffchaffs very obvious around the Obs, I managed to open a few nets for a couple of hours before dark and caught a nice selection of these common migrants but it was highlighted by a German ringed Lesser Redpoll.
