A promising looking morning with cloud cover and a light NE breeze but the nets were almost dead with the exception of 5 Lesser Redpolls caught with the aid of playback; not much else was seen either as birds of note comprised the 1cy Little Gull still, at least 26 Buzzards which appeared immediately after the cloud cleared mid-morning to head south, the Kingfisher still in the channel (haven’t seen it for a few days), 2 Sparrowhawks and 3 White-tailed Eagles.
I didn’t do much in the lovely, sunny, calm afternoon but a few more Buzzards and Sparrowhawks went south along with at least 2 Rough-legged Buzzards (one of which hung around foraging right through until dusk), a male Goshawk which went high south and a single adult Whooper Swan which arrived in the bay late afternoon – the first one I’ve seen here.
