NORTH RONALDSAY - 4th June

Gorgeous again, warm (almost hot at some stages!), sunny and calm but nets first thing produced nothing but we did ring a Redshank chick on the flash just across the road and 10 Collared Doves were around the garden.   We then had a bash through the marsh at Westness where we managed to ring three more Redshank chicks as well as some Lapwing, Oystercatcher and Black-headed Gulls.

The northern census route in the afternoon was quiet but lovely in the summer-like conditions as birds of note included a Little Stint on Bewan, 52 Knot, 27 Bar-tailed Godwits, 60 Sanderling, 3 Sand Martins and a Chiffchaff.
