NORTH RONALDSAY - 11th June

After a couple of hours of heavy rain first thing it was a lovely, calm, warm day with a short ringing session at Holland mid-morning producing new Spotted Flycatcher and Chiffchaff with another Redshank chick ringed across the road.  Other birds in the Obs census area included the Marsh Warbler again, the Black-throated Diver in Nouster with a Great-northern Diver, another Spotted Flycatcher at the pier and 7 Bar-tailed Godwits.

A wander through the Irises at Kirbest and Brides in the afternoon then produced a few Black-headed Gull chicks and Greylag Geese while the 3 Great Black-backed Gull chicks ringed in Brides probably pointed to why there was hardly anything else to catch in there!
