Largely clear and sunny but with a brisk and increasing wind, not ideal mist-netting conditions at Fågelsjön in the morning but the totals were saved by the large numbers of Siskins still feeding on the thistles around the nets (41 were caught through the morning); other birds caught included 3 Bluethroats (plus another seen), 3 Blackcaps, a Garden Warbler and still a trickle of Reed and Sedge Warblers.
Also seen through the session included 3 Goosanders (an overdue Kvismaren tick!), 2 Whooper Swans, 2 Great White Egrets, a single Taiga Bean Goose, 2 Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshank, 3 Ospreys and a single Sand Martin which flew west with a trickle of Swallows.
A walk round Rysjön and Hammarmaden in the windy afternoon produced a good spread of raptors playing in the wind including 2 Peregrines and at least 4 Hobbies, a Little Grebe, a drake Pochard and 2 Great-crested Grebes on the lake and a good flock of 31 Shoveler on Hammarmaden along with 7 Ruff and 2 Ringed Plovers.
