Brisk northwesterlies at
the start of the day produced a brilliant passage of 3,654 Common Gulls heading up the coast (a new Lista day record) in
sometimes impressive flocks of hundreds; other birds offshore included the
first Arctic Skua of the year south,
60 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 20 Black-headed Gulls and 30 Curlews while on Vågsvollvåien
the Common Teal x Green-winged Teal hybrid was still present and was joined by
a drake Garganey with 3 Peregrines
and a Merlin hanging around.
The wind dropped off to practically nothing by
lunchtime and the sun came out but a walk across the fields to Groda was pretty
quiet with a Chiffchaff and another Merlin – a smart adult male the only birds
of note.
