Wall to wall sunshine but
it was marred by the still brisk and very cold NW wind; unable to head north
yesterday an excellent 1,420 Common
Gulls passed by (including an impressive burst of 400 in the first half an
hour after dawn) with the two White-tailed
Eagles (a 1st winter and a 3rd winter) flying south
offshore pretty much the only other birds of note although there was a hint of
some more waders with a group of 14 Ringed Plovers and 6 Bar-tailed Godwits
heading north.
There was a trickle of northward bound passerines in
the sun including 30+ Rock Pipits, a Grey Wagtail and a few Siskins,
Chaffinches and Skylarks. Nothing much
else to mention with my first Adder
of the year seen basking by Net 1 the day’s highlight.
My first Adder of the spring
