A calm day but that just
prevented the fairly thick murk and fog clearing and the visibility remained
poor throughout; there was however a bit of action in the nets with 8 new
Robins along with 3 Goldcrests and a couple of Yellowhammers of note. The sea wasn’t really visible so the only
other birds through the morning were on Vågsvollvåien where the first Green Sandpiper of the spring flew
through with the drake Garganey and
Common Teal x Green-winged Teal hybrid still present.
A walk round the coast in the afternoon produced a
few bits including 4 Wheatears, my first two Redshank of the spring, 38 Teal, a young female Merlin with a
freshly killed Blackbird, a smart adult male Marsh Harrier, a big influx of
150+ Chaffinches in Lebeltet and increased numbers of Robins across the area.
Plenty of Robins are in full voice now
