A brisk and steadily
increasing easterly wind blew away most of the fog and the sun came out albeit
briefly; the sea was pretty quiet though with a group of three drake Shoveler
south the highlight while a Merlin came in off (which could have been just
returning from a hunting trip).
The increasing wind soon ended the netting session in
the morning but it was clear that there were good numbers of new birds through
the area – although mostly concentrated on the sheltered side of Lebeltet with
the most notable being c60 Robins, 8 Chiffchaffs and 14 Wheatears while other birds included a Black Redstart, 30 Blackbirds, 16+ Song Thrushes, 15 Woodpigeons, a Brambling with
30 Chaffinches, 15 Goldcrests and a few Linnets heading NW with an increased 55
Golden Plover over the fields and the Common Teal x Green-winged Teal hybrid
still on Vågsvollvåien. Heavy rain
moved in early afternoon pretty much ending the day!
Pretty cute Red Squirrel collecting nesting material
The Hares were being very photogenic as well, showing a variety of colours as they moult back into their summer coats
