A very different day with a
blazing force 8 gale and regular, heavy showers sweeping through; I had a seawatch
first thing which produced 7 Sooty Shearwaters, 8 Manx Shearwaters, 708
Fulmars, 150 Gannets and 100 Kittiwakes in an hour and a half while 2 Lesser
Black-backed Gulls, 7 Golden Plover and 6 Ringed Plovers came in off the sea
with a flock of 12 Lesser Black-backs in fields.
There was little else to mention in tricky conditions
with 60 Dunlin and 30 Ringed Plovers on Gretchen and good numbers of close
Arctic Skuas and Gannets passing close in to The Lurn.
