A stunning day with plenty
of sunshine and light winds with only a couple of early morning showers to
mention; walked the Hooking census route which started off with 2 Black
Redstarts at the cattle grid in Nouster before other birds included a smart
juvenile Hen Harrier cruising over the loch and 2 Black-tailed
Godwits with the usual big flock of Lapwings, Golden Plover and Redshank. My first Short-eared Owl of the autumn was floating
over Ancum in the evening.
