Overcast and breezy in the morning, giving way to sunny and breezy in the afternoon, the nets at Holland were empty first thing before the middle census route produced influxes of a few things with 204 Dunlin on the beach at Westness, c1,000 Arctic Terns at Trinley (including some breeding birds still) and 480+ Golden Plover.   Other birds included a female Garganey on Ancum, 4 Purple Sandpipers at Trinley where there was also a Red-breasted Merganser and a Red-throated Diver, 7 Sand Martins including a juvenile, a Heron and 40 Turnstone.

A walk round the Obs in the afternoon then produced the Black-throated Diver still in Nouster, the 3 Red-necked Phalaropes on Gretchen with 16 Dunlin and a 1st summer Kittiwake.
