NORTH RONALDSAY - 3rd July

Sunny throughout the day but still a bit breezy; birds round the middle census route included the continued build-up of post-breeding waders including 65 Oystercatchers, 52 Redshank, 42 Curlew and 74 Golden Plover and 3 Herons on Ancum where there were also broods of 3 Teal and 6 Gadwall before the 3 Red-necked Phalaropes were still on Gretchen.   A pod of 3 ORCAS moved through the sound between us and Sanday early evening.
