NORTH RONALDSAY - 11th July

Another awesome day, sunny, calm and warm; we put up some nets and managed to catch 15 Tysties at Gretchen first thing including a few re-traps with the oldest from 2006 while the 2 Red-necked Phalaropes were again on Gretchen.   I cycled up the island in the afternoon where there were big numbers of birds in the recently cut fields and at the top end including a single Common Tern with 2550+ Arctic Terns at Bewan, a smart Black-tailed Godwit with 360+ Oystercatchers, 75 Curlew and plenty of Gulls and Starlings in the fields, 80 Dunlin, 22 Knot, 400 Golden Plover and 15 Bar-tailed Godwits.
