NORTH RONALDSAY - 9th April

A similar start to the day with the wind gradually increasing before a band of rain moved in at lunchtime; the West Coast census route produced a few bits and pieces including 3 Merlins (one of which caught a Redwing on Torness), 3 Bonxies (a pair on Westbeach and one offshore), a flyover Snow Bunting, a bit of wildfowl movement offshore with 3 Shoveler and 3 Shelduck south at sea with 3 Puffins north and 5 Wheatears.   Also of note were a group of 2-3 Risso’s Dolphins close in off Torness, I saw them from Westbeach but by the time I got up to Torness they had disappeared.

The Green-winged Teal was still on Gretchen as were 6 Sandwich Terns while a bit of a Corvid influx produced a group of 6 Carrion Crows in the Standing Stone Field.
