NORTH RONALDSAY - 5th April

Not quite as bad as yesterday afternoon as the blazing westerly wind was very slightly lighter but it was still very hard work to be out and about in; the northern census route was largely unremarkable with 2 Snow Buntings, 9 Redwings, a Great-northern Diver, 7 Gadwall and a Whooper Swan of note.

The drake Green-winged Teal was again on Gretchen in the afternoon (I’m not sure if it does disappear off island or just hides well in the ditches behind the loch) where there was also 2 Sandwich Terns and 390+ Golden Plover.
