NORTH RONALDSAY - 16th April

Plenty of unbroken sunshine through the day but with a very cold and increasing northerly wind; I had a couple of hours at Holland but failed to catch anything but the Northern Harrier did a flypast and there were 2 Goldcrests and a Chiffchaff around the outside.

It was fairly pleasant around the middle census route where there were a pair of Garganey on Ancum, a pair of Lapland Buntings at North Gravity, a smart 2nd year male Sparrowhawk in Ancum Willows, 8 Wheatears, 6 Redwings, 3 Pink-footed Geese, a Rook and 6 Red-breasted Mergansers displaying energetically at Westness.
