A tough couple of days with a strong and bitterly cold NNE wind bringing some dramatic snow showers on the 5th when most of the action was offshore and included 32 Black-headed Gulls, a drake Eider on the sea, a Fulmar, 2 Gannets, a Bonxie south, an adult Kittiwake, two adult Mediterranean Gulls and 19 Red-throated Diver. Other birds comprised 3 Black Redstarts, 2 Chiffchaffs, a Redwing, 30 Sanderling on the beach and 2 Swallows heading north.
Very slightly reduced winds on the 6th produced a very slight increase in migrants which included 4 Chiffchaffs, a Chaffinch, 8 Goldfinches, a Redwing, 3 Robins, 4 Siskins and a Swallow with 2 Black Redstarts (including the singing fort bird still on territory) and 3 Wheatears still present while offshore were 29 Black-headed Gulls, 5 Mediterranean Gulls, 19 Common Gulls, a Common Scoter, a Kittiwake and an adult Shag which flew north first thing.
