LANDGUARD - 13th April

Similar again, cold and clear first thing becoming warmer through the morning but the breeze picked up bringing some cloud from lunchtime; the few bits seen at the Obs included the singing Black Redstart still, 2 Blackcaps caught, single Chaffinch and Chiffchaff, a flock of 14 Common Scoter north, a pair of Eiders north, 11 Goldfinches, at least 9 Mediterranean Gulls vaguely going south, a Redpoll, a Rook south, 2 Swallows south, 2 Wheatears, the first Obs Yellow Wagtail of the year south and a late Yellowhammer also south.

A look at Loompit in the now chilly afternoon produced the highlight of a first-winter Little Gull with the dip-feeding Black-heads; there was little else new from last time but there were at least 13 Mediterranean Gulls in a recently tilled field along the approach road.
