LANDGUARD - 2nd April

Grey and chilly again with a cutting northerly wind; inevitably there wasn’t too much through the day but the odd things are always around at this time of year which today included 4 Black Redstarts (including the singing bird on the fort again), a Chiffchaff, a Blackcap, a Redpoll, a Swallow, 4 Gannets north in the afternoon and most unusually for here, 2 Pink-footed Geese which came out of the river and flew north – only the third April record in the Obs area.

I spring-trapped two of the Black Redstarts by the cottage at lunchtime.
