NORTH RONALDSAY - 6th April

Fairly calm and bright first thing but the wind soon began to increase and the cloud rolled in to become wet and windy by the afternoon; had a seawatch first thing which produced a group of 4 Sandwich Terns, my first 6 Puffins of the year and 232 Auk sp.   Other birds round the north included a Black Redstart, a Chaffinch, 6 Twite, a Snow Bunting, one lingering female Goldeneye on Bewan and at least 18 Curlews which headed out high to the north calling loudly.

Not too much else to mention but with the SE wind and approaching rain there were clearly things on the move with a few Pipits in off the sea at the Obs and a Carrion Crow / Rook flying south far out at sea.
