NORTH RONALDSAY - 1st April

Another lovely day with light winds (flat calm for a spell in the afternoon) and plenty of sunshine; opened the nets first thing but only caught a Woodcock and three new Robins – plus many, many re-trap Robins!   Birds around the Obs census area through the day included 2 Barnacle Geese with the Greylags around Holland, 43 Robins, 4 Song Thrushes, c50 Blackbirds, 9 Pied Wagtails, 2 Grey Wagtails, a new, un-ringed Chiffchaff at the Obs, a Woodpigeon, a Mistle Thrush and a Dunnock.

Also of note was an increase to 160 Golden Plover plus a Knot, 3 Black-tailed Godwits on Gretchen and 14 Great-northern Divers offshore in the afternoon on the calm seas.
