NORTH RONALDSAY - 5th April

Strong westerly winds and a few heavy hail showers made it uncomfortable out in the field but birds in the middle census route included the 3 Barnacle Geese near the airstrip, 2 Jackdaws north over Phisligar, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls at Sandar, 18 Robins, a Chaffinch, a Woodpigeon and a sprinkling of the usual Thrushes.   There was a Mistle Thrush and a showy young male Merlin along the road up to Holland.
