NORTH RONALDSAY - 8th September
A good, autumnal feeling
day with light winds and misty, murk coming and going through the day, it was
just a shame that the wind had gone back into the NW; opened the nets first
thing which produced a few birds including a new Barred Warbler,
a Marsh Warbler (a tricky, small, bright individual with a wing of 68), a Reed
Warbler, an early Brambling
(unsurprisingly the first of the autumn) and a Willow Warbler. My first Yellow-browed
Warbler of
the year was in the Kirkyard (the island’s earliest ever one was yesterday) and
the Black Redstart was again around the buildings.
The rest of the Obs census route was OK without being
too busy as birds included another Yellow-browed Warbler
and a Common Rosefinch in Funny Park, a Redstart, a Blackcap, a Rock
Pipit, a Ruff on Gretchen, 3 Wheatears and a Garden Warbler just over in
Kirbest.
