NORTH RONALDSAY - 4th September
A stunning day, bright
with plenty of sunshine but not a breath of wind through the morning and a
welcome, very light easterly breeze by the afternoon; a walk round the Hooking
census route produced distant views of the first Common Rosefinch of the autumn over The
Links wall at North Gravity, a few ducks milling around including 36 Wigeon, 53
Teal and 3 Shoveler and 4 Herons including two which came in high from the
west. A little jaunt at lunchtime
produced decent views of an Icterine Warbler at Antabreck and one of
the Barred Warblers around the Obs.
I then spent a few hours in the afternoon walking
round the northern census route but it was disappointingly quiet just producing
3 Willow Warblers and a Lesser Whitethroat.
Barred Warbler
and some baby Wrens
