Still pretty windy but largely dry through the morning
but there were some new birds in with the walk up to Holland producing a
Fieldfare (my first on here this year) and 2
Stonechats – the ringed male from yesterday and a new female while the
first Woodpigeon of the year was in
the gardens with c15 Blackbirds and a couple of Robins.
I
then headed on to walk round the C census route where highlights included the Northern Harrier which
magically reappeared after a weeks absence, sitting in a field by Holland next
to a big, dark female Peregrine which it then proceeded to have a dogfight with
and an adult Little Gull on Hooking
with a big influx of 129+ Black-headed Gulls, many of which in full breeding
plumage.
Other
birds included a single Whooper Swan, 16 Tufted Duck, 2 Pintail, 31 Bar-tailed
Godwits and 25 Sanderling; a third Stonechat
– another female was later trapped at the Obs.
