NORTH RONALDSAY - 2nd March

Still windy and cold but with less sun and more vicious showers whipping through; walked around the middle of the island but the crofts were predictably quiet producing only 5 Redwings and a Meadow Pipit while in the flooded fields 30 Bar-tailed Godwits were the pick and at Westness 150+ Purple Sandpipers were on the shore and Common and Black-headed Gulls were feeding in the surf.

The afternoon was worse with more showers coming through but the Black-throated Diver was again in Nouster along with a Great-northern Diver and 17 Long-tailed Ducks.

More Purple Sandpipers
