Bright and sunny with a
brisk north-westerly but I still managed to get a few nets open however the
bushes were devoid of any birds to catch – getting a bit worrying now! There was a good passage of 303 Greylag
Geese heading south overhead while offshore 5 Bonxies were slowly drifting
south chasing things as they went and 5 Sparrowhawks also went south along the
shore; other birds around the lighthouse in the morning included my first Lesser-spotted Woodpecker of the autumn
and a Spotted Redshank overhead.
The coast in the afternoon was unremarkable with the
exception of an increase to 20 Greenshanks around Verevågen while other waders included
a Bar-tailed Godwit and small numbers of Wood Sandpipers, Green Sandpipers,
Common Sandpipers and Dunlin.
There was some more raptor action in the afternoon
with 2 Merlins whizzing around Gunnarsmyra, a juvenile male Peregrine and the
adult male Marsh Harrier floating around.
