SWEDEN - 1st July
A
chilly morning with an ever-present threat of rain and a brisk wind, the ringing
at Rysjön produced an Icterine Warbler, a Whinchat, a
White Wagtail family and my first Swedish Chiffchaff – a recent fledgling
(slightly surprising I’ve not caught up with them if they are breeding close to
the ringing site. Other birds here
included 2 Black
Woodpeckers flying
through, 3 Great White Egrets and a big gathering of 450+ Swifts. A little look at Löten and Hammarmaden in the late afternoon didn’t
produce much new but certainly noteworthy was a big influx of 110+ Wood Sandpipers.
