SWEDEN - 15th July

Only managed a couple of hours ringing at Fågelsjön in the morning in a weather window between spells of rain but it was quite productive with a run of adult Sedge and Reed Warblers with a Marsh Warbler thrown in.

A good walk round the reserve from late morning when the rain had cleared produced a fine array of waders on Löten including 5 Temminck’s Stints (only seen in flight when the Peregrine flushed everything), 45 Dunlin (my peak count so far), a single Curlew Sandpiper, 7 Spotted Redshanks, a Whimbrel, 3 Common Sandpipers, 3 Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Green Sandpipers and the usual Greenshank and Wood Sandpipers.

Also seen through the afternoon were 2 Black Tern fledglings, a Sparrowhawk (a Kvismaren tick!), 2 Bitterns seen in flight and a Great White Egret.
