NORTH RONALDSAY - 6th October

A gorgeous day, an oasis of calm in the shitshow that is this autumn; there wasn’t too much new in the middle census route but a few things popped out in the fine conditions including 3 Kestrels, a Jack Snipe, 9 Wheatears, 10 Redwings, the first proper, migrant Fieldfare of the autumn, 4 Rock Pipits and a Short-eared Owl in Laird’s Park while wildfowl included 10 Whooper Swans on Ancum (including the first four juveniles of the autumn), 115+ Teal, 3+ Water Rails, 5 Gadwall and a Tufted Duck.
