NORTH RONALDSAY - 4th October

Back to the horrible, energy sapping, strong SW winds that has plagued us over the last month after yesterday’s semi-calm oasis; it was quiet on the Hooking census route with most of the interesting birds off The Links which included my first Long-tailed Duck of the autumn, the Slavonian Grebe again, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers and 3 Red-throated Divers.   Other bits included 7 Shoveler on the loch, 6 Wheatears, a Kestrel and 2 Redwings.
