Similar conditions to
yesterday but with stronger winds and more rain; a couple of hours looking at
the sea produced a similar range of things to yesterday including 18
Red-throated Divers, 40 Wigeon, a Shelduck, 2 Tufted Ducks, 3 Long-tailed
Ducks, 119 Common Scoter, 20 Velvet Scoter, 6 Red-breasted Mergansers, 46
Razorbills and a Black-headed Gull.
A stomp through Seviksmarka / Ogmundsrøysa then
produced 2 Short-eared Owls and 4 Jack Snipe while 2 Peregrines zoomed about
but the highlight came along the sheltered side of Lebeltet where we flushed a Tengmalm’s Owl which when refound gave
awesome views down to a couple of metres – the first one I’ve seen during the
day; this then attracted a Yellow-browed
Warbler which came in close to alarm and mob the Owl! Heavier rain then moved in during the
afternoon making the difficult conditions even more difficult with a little
drive around only producing 2 Slavonian Grebes in Nordhasselvika of note.
It was too close to get the whole bird in the picture!
