Still fairly calm in the
morning but the light easterly breeze was pretty cold; it was much quieter
around the lighthouse than the last couple of days with far fewer Goldcrests
especially (most of those we did catch were either re-traps and/or had high fat
scores so had been here a while) but we did catch a smart female Stonechat – pretty rare here!
It was a similar story in the area but there was
still plenty of interest with the brute of a Gyrfalcon still around (judging by the blood stains on her bill she
had just fed!), the Three-toed
Woodpecker in Lebeltet, 3 Black
Woodpeckers noisily flapping around and a Red-throated Pipit and at least 3 Lapland Buntings with a notable
influx of 95+ Skylarks in the stubble fields.
There were also good numbers of Reed Buntings,
Yellowhammers, Meadow Pipits and Rock Pipits right across the area while other
little bits through the afternoon included a late Common Sandpiper in Sevika,
an influx of 22+ Wheatears around the coast, a Jack Snipe in Sevika, a
Short-eared Owl at Grettestø, a Tree Pipit at the lighthouse, 8 Blackcaps and
now 6 Brent Geese with 96+ Wigeon on Vågsvollvåien.
Stonechat
Gyrfalcon
Short-eared Owl
and a manky Crow!
