Another similar morning at Ason, quiet in the nets and overhead; there were no real highlights in the nets while birds seen while watching the empty nets included 3 Goosanders over the bridge, 2 Common Sandpipers, a Redshank, brief views of a monster big female Goshawk (only seen because of some Hooded Crows panicking!), a White-tailed Eagle, 2 Black Woodpeckers and at least 24 Yellow Wagtails seen leaving their roost first thing while a few bits went south including a Meadow Pipit, 7 Tree Pipits, 15 Chaffinches, 17 Bramblings, a Common Redpoll and only 20 Siskins.
Didn’t really do much else through the day but I had brilliant views of a roosting CAMBERWELL BEAUTY over by Kristinehamn – a butterfly I’ve always to see, it was always resting with its wings closed but still awesome!
