NORTH RONALDSAY - 1st April

Bright, with a moderate southerly wind in the morning but the wind steadily picked up through the day to become very strong by the evening bringing some heavy rain; nets were still quiet first thing but it was a bit breezy, a few migrants around the Obs census route included my first 2 Chiffchaffs of the year, 2 Goldcrests, 3 Woodpigeons, 50+ Skylarks, a Wheatear, a little influx of 11 Redwings (Thrush passage has been non-existent this spring so far), a Jackdaw and 20 Linnets.   Other birds included 3 Pink-footed Geese, the drake Green-winged Teal still, 4 Shoveler and 3 Red-throated Divers.
