NORTH RONALDSAY - 1st April
Bright,
with a moderate southerly wind in the morning but the wind steadily picked up
through the day to become very strong by the evening bringing some heavy rain;
nets were still quiet first thing but it was a bit breezy, a few migrants
around the Obs census route included my first 2 Chiffchaffs of the year, 2 Goldcrests,
3 Woodpigeons, 50+ Skylarks, a Wheatear, a little influx of 11 Redwings (Thrush
passage has been non-existent this spring so far), a Jackdaw and 20
Linnets. Other birds included 3
Pink-footed Geese, the drake Green-winged Teal still, 4 Shoveler and 3
Red-throated Divers.
