The southerly winds
dropped right off through the day, becoming almost still for a spell,
unfortunately though light but very persistent rain moved in a few hours after
dawn and stayed the rest of the day; the highlight was a Coue’s Arctic Redpoll with the flock of Commons at Ancum, its possibly the
same bird that we’ve seen before but I’m a bit more convinced by it now. My daily totals from the north and a bit
round the Obs included a Kestrel, 5 Woodcock, 8 Meadow Pipits, 3 Robins, 65
Blackbirds, 76 Fieldfare, 2 Song Thrush, 160 Redwing, 2 Blackcap, a Chiffchaff,
5 Chaffinches, a Brambling, 16 Twite, 22 Common Redpolls, 5 Snow Buntings and a
Yellowhammer which dropped into Holland just as it started
raining.
