TAIWAN - 15th February

Caught a ridiculously early flight from Bangkok to Taipei, picked up a hire car and drove halfway down Taiwan to an area in the mountains around the town of Lushan and before I collapsed from tiredness  I managed a couple of hours birding round the town and up the river to the hot springs where the highlights included a cracking LITTLE FORKTAIL on the river, quite a few smart PLUMBEOUS REDSTARTS, a single female DAURIAN REDSTART, several flocks of the endemic TAIWAN YUHINA, a flock of smart and also endemic WHITE-EARED SIBIA, a pair of GREEN-BACKED TITS, several noisy flocks of BLACK BULBULS and a big flock of ASIAN HOUSE MARTINS over the valley.

Other birds included a pair of AMUR WAGTAILS, a couple of Grey Wagtails and a few Pacific Swallows.
