A lovely, calm, warm day
with a light westerly breeze; started off by catching another seven adult
Tysties at Gretchen before a walk round the Hooking census route just produced
some big flocks of waders around the loch with 620+ Golden Plover, 125 Redshank
and 95 Lapwings but I couldn’t find anything in amongst them, the only other
birds of note were two fledgling Black Guillemots off The Links.
A Kestrel flew south over the Obs at lunchtime (the
first one I’ve seen on the island this year!) before we went on to Torness to
ring another c30 Arctic Tern chicks (mainly small second brood chicks) and more
Tystie chicks.
Burnished Brass
Probably a pale, faded Beautiful Golden Y and not a Plain Golden Y as first suspected
