GEDSER - 10th November

A lovely, largely sunny day with the lightish but still cold wind back in the east but the nets and the garden were pretty much empty of birds as we managed just 9 new birds all morning; there was the merest trickle of Finches overhead through the first part of the morning including small numbers of Chaffinches, Bramblings, Linnets, Goldfinches, Redpolls, Siskins, Greenfinches and Twite with a single Crossbill to complete things.

A Great Grey Shrike also flew over while at least 5 Northern Bullfinches were still in the garden (but they all already had rings!) and two Little Gulls fed offshore.   A walk to town in the afternoon was also quiet with 4 Waxwings in the centre and a Hen Harrier over the fields.

I caught this spangly Golden Plover last night
