NORTH RONALDSAY - 2nd October
A
similar day to yesterday, largely dry with only a couple of showers and a
brisk, cold NNW breeze; pretty much all of the noteworthy birds were leftovers
from the last week with the Hornemann’s Arctic Redpoll
still at the back of Nouster but sometimes elusive and the Red-backed Shrike still around Holland. Other birds included 7 Red-throated Divers,
4 Sooty and a Manx Shearwater, 3 Heron, a Pintail, 79 Teal, 8 Shoveler, 2
Red-breasted Mergansers, a Hen Harrier, a Black-tailed Godwit, the late Arctic
Tern still lingering in the north, 2 Swallows, 2 Redstarts, a Whinchat, 6
Wheatears, 2 Fieldfare, a Lesser Whitethroat, a Blackcap, 2 Chiffchaffs, a
Willow Warbler, a Chaffinch and 3 Snow Buntings.
